Over 15 Years of Salt Excellence

SQB is a company dedicated to the processing and distribution of high-quality sea salt for industrial and food applications.

Our source — the Guerrero Negro lagoon in Baja California Sur — is strategically located 470 miles from the U.S.–Mexico border, enabling reliable and efficient cross-border delivery.

We proudly supply a wide range of industries, including oil and gas, textile manufacturing, de-icing, food processing, water treatment, chemical applications, and pool salt.

We serve the Baja Peninsula and regularly export full truckload shipments to the United States. We are committed to providing consistent quality, reliable supply, and excellent customer service.

Our Journey

Key Milestones

  • 2009 — Founded

Company established in Tijuana to meet growing demand for industrial salt in northern Baja California. First processing and packaging plant opened.

  • 2010 — Strategic Supply Agreement

Formalized purchase contract with Exportadora de Sal, S.A. de C.V. (ESSA), securing direct supply from the Guerrero Negro salt lagoon in Baja California Sur.

  • 2020 — U.S. Expansion

Launched commercial operations in southern California and Arizona. Full Truckload (FTL) export shipments became a core part of our business model.

  • Today — Three-Plant Operation

We operate plants in Tijuana B.C. (main hub) and two in Guerrero Negro B.C.S., with a growing customer base across the U.S. Southwest and West Coast.

Our Source

From Ocean to Crystal

Natural sea salt harvested through ancient solar evaporation — a patient, sun-powered process spanning up to two years in a pristine Pacific lagoon.

Pure Sea Water
01

Pure Sea Water

Clean ocean water is drawn directly from the sea at a natural salinity of 4° Bé — untreated, unmodified, and entirely natural.

Solar Evaporation
02

Solar Evaporation

Water moves through 13 consecutive ponds, slowly concentrating under the open sun. No artificial heat — the process takes 8 to 10 months.

26° Bé Concentration
03

26° Bé Concentration

Brine reaches the ideal concentration point — dense, mineral-rich, and ready to crystallize. Sodium chloride precipitates first at this precise threshold.

Crystallization
04

Crystallization

Across 70 dedicated crystallization ponds, pure salt crystals form slowly on the pond floor over approximately six months — unhurried, natural, solar-driven.

Final Evaporation
05

Final Evaporation

Remaining liquid continues evaporating under the sun, separating residual minerals into distinct streams for the final stage.

Salt Harvest
06

Salt Harvest

Heavy machinery scrapes and collects crystallized salt from the pond floor. Guerrero Negro produces approximately 8 million tons of salt per year — one of the world's largest operations.

Washing System
07

Washing System

Salt passes through an industrial washing system on a conveyor belt, removing impurities such as sulfates, calcium, and magnesium — leaving the cleanest possible product.

Hydro Pressure Wash

Hydro Pressure Wash

Salt is transported to washing tubs where high-pressure brine jets deliver a final deep-cleaning stage, ensuring the purest product possible before packaging.
